Cant Upgrade Intel Processor T6500 to P8700
Hi,
I had purchased dell studio 14 which has t6500 cpu.. now i want 2 upgrade to P8700... Since t6500 doesnt support Virtualization technology i.e Intel-VT... I calld up dell for it.. they say its out of stock / double the price...
Did anyone got thr cpu upgraded.. plz share ur experience...

I realize this thread is old but for what it's worth I got screwed when I bought my Inspiron 1545. I had upgraded processor to Core2 T6500 thinking it had VT support (as Intel site listed it did) only to find out after delivery it did not. Called Dell support and guy on phone says it does, then says it doesn't (long story). They wouldn't upgrade me to next proc up for free (or offer much of anything) to make me happy so this will be the last Dell I purchase. By the way, apparently this processor had a "mixup" at Intel and was originally said to support VT only for them to "fix" site later.
