Changing Monitor with Inspiron Lap Top

I hooked-up the new monitor and turnned off the laptop monitor on the software. Everything working fine until I close the lid on the laptop then system shuts down/off. How do you disable the close lid shut down feature?

Thanks

Try using the CRT/LCD function key. On my Inspiron 2200 its the "Fn" key + F8 key. This key combination has 3 modes, one of which will keep the CRT on with the laptop closed.

Hope this helps.

Peace.

Thank You for your response. My Inspiron is a 1545 and the "F1" key works fine but the "FN +F8" did not work. I thought you could close the lid on the lap top and still use it with a remote minitor and keyboard, and mouse?

Thanks again.

Go into the BIOS setup (F2 at powerup) and set the system to "Do nothing" when the lid is closed.
