Compact Flash card

I just got a Dell Inspiron 1501 and can not find a place to read a compact flash card from my digital camara.   What do I need to so it will?

This is a link to the manual for your system. You probably already have the Manual in your paper work that came with the system. In the manual Chapter 7 shows you what you need to know. Hope this helps.

These new notebooks apparently don't read CF (CompactFlash). I was surprised my new I1521 with 8-in-1 Reader wasn't able to use CF. I thought of what 8 possible memory cards might be and didn't think SDHC or MultiMediaCard would be counted.

Anyway... answer is to get a USB adapter. I bought one so I could still use my digital camera until I get a new camera which will probably use SD cards.

Was very cheap at only $5, found at ebay. The one I got can be found in a search at ebay entering the words:
compact flash reader writer usb key

Prices go up from there but plenty can be found, just have to be careful it actually supports CompactFlash. I had a couple read errors already but when asked to Retry the downloads to computer have always been successful. Maybe I should have paid more... but I expect to get a new camera sooner than later anyhow.

Definitely makes using CF a little more trouble, wish these built-in Readers still supported CF. Guess it means CF is going obsolete.
