It is true that the battery is covered for only the first 12 months of any warranty. It's also true that a battery that's not charging is often symptomatic of a faulty system board, not a faulty battery - particularly if the failure to charge comes on suddenly (without the flashing amber LEDs that indicate cell failure within the battery).
