Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Hi Def Audio Software Enabled
I'm getting ready to buy an Inspiron 15R laptop for my Grandson. I see this SW is offered, but exactly what is it? Could someone explain for me please, as there is no Sound Blaster audio card.
Thanks, from a grateful Granny! :emotion-2:

Thanks for the information, Jim and Royan. I was skeptical, first because the software was only $25, and as I stated before, no SoundBlaster card. So if it enhances the audio experience on the 5110, then I will add it to the laptop purchase.

Hi,
Welcome to the Community. The Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi sotware provides premium audio quality, effects and features for PC systems equipped with only basic onboard audio. So this will work together with your integrated Audio Card ( Sigmatel ) For more information check the below link.

Hi Royan. I think you meant integrated IDT or Conexant audio, depending on which 15R model. Dell unfortunately uses the "15R" name for several different models -- 5520, N5110, SE7520. The N5110 has IDT and the others have Conexant.
Hi Granny. I would add this -- when you buy a SoundBlaster card it comes bundled with software that is supposed to enhance the sound. Dell got Creative to make the software work on their computers without needing the SoundBlaster hardware. Most people who have commented on the software over the years seem to like having it.

One more question. Can you give me a link for the download page for the Soundblaster software. I'm having trouble finding that information.
Thanks again!

Sorry to be a bother... I answered my own question:
support.dell.com/.../document
"When your new computer is powered on for the first time, you will be walked through the regular computer setup including connecting to the internet.
The second time the computer is powered on, the Dell Digital Delivery helper application already installed on your computer will run automatically. Dell Digital Delivery will begin downloading and installing your purchased software a few minutes after the computer is started for the second time.
At the time Dell Digital Delivery launched, you will have the option to Download Now or Remind Me Later. If you choose Remind Me Later this option will appear the next time the computer is started and on subsequent re-starts until you decide to download the software you purchased."
