D620 not recognizing Docking Station

When I put my D620 on my docking station, it doesn't recognize it. It will charge the battery and I can use one external monitor, but before I power it up, the eject light does not come on and after I power it up to on and undock light are not lit. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

when you have the the laptop out of the dock, are any of the dock's lights turned on ( assuming the D/Port Advanced Port replicator, the "power" button should be amber colored with no laptop in place).

In any case, I suggest you unplug the ac adapter from the dock, disconnect every perpherial you have connected to the dock, reconnect the AC adapter and dock the laptop, and then see what happens.  If the problem resolves itself, shutdown, and recoonect the perpherials and test again.

I had a manager who thought his dock was defective and it turned out that somehow (don't ask me how!) but the old HP laser printer with parallel port cable was somehow involved.  Of course it's possible that when I was swapping his dock with my spare test one, I had inadvertantly fixed a loose connection on something else, but the problem went away.

Yes, when the laptop is out of the dock, the power light is amber. The docking station will work with other laptops. Also, the laptop will not work with any docking station (not just the one I mentioned below). Any docking station will give the described symptoms.

I will give your suggestions a try, but my I am thinking it has to do with the laptop.

Has anyone had the same trouble?

Hmm... Okay, I'd suggest checking the physical connector on the bottom of the laptop for any dirt or junk stuck in the contacts.

If you have access to the exact same model laptop, I'd recommend moving the hard drive to the other laptop and see if the problem follows the drive or not.

If it does not, then the problem has to be with the laptop. I'd suspect a faulty motherboard. Hopefully your system is still under warranty.
