D620 screen resolution changes when I close the lid

I have a D620, with Nvidia 110 graphics card.   My screen resolution is set to 1440 by 900, but when I close the lid, all the windows on my screen get resized to 800 x 600 and shoved into the top left hand corner.

Any idea when Dell is going to fix this?  I am sure it's a problem with the driver, and I already have the latest Nvidia drivers from the dell website.

I guess no one has a solution to this problem?  Dell support used to read these posts... where did you guys go?

I have this exact same problem with my work D620 laptop with NVidia Quadro NVS 110M.  It resizes my VNC viewer window which has no resize controls, and I end up having to close and reopen the VNC display.

In addition, I have a variety of other fun video-related problems.  Sometimes if you shut the lid and reopen it within a second or two, the display goes blank.  My coworkers have suffered from this too (sometimes during meetings where they end up not seeing where they can doing - nothing like wasting 5 minutes to restart your laptop in a 60 minute meeting).  Sometimes Fn-F8 solves the problem, sometimes it doesn't.

I've also had a related problem where the display goes blank after the system resumes from standby.  In this case, nothing brings the display back and there is nothing to do but restart the system.  The system is running when this happens, but you are running blind since there is no display.

This D620 has not been very reliable for me.  I have other issues where the fans kick on full-speed and don't shut off even if I put the laptop in my freezer for awhile.  Great unit.

I am seeing the same types of problems with the D620 and the intel video card.

At first all my icons keep ending up int the upper left hand conner of the desktop after a reboot. I deleted my profile and then it would save the icons positions but i have not moved everything into the 800x600 positions because i got tired of put them back all the time.

When docked, if i go into stand by and then resume without this PC being selected in the KVM the video is blank when i do switch to this PC and my dell monitor says it can not display this resolusition, not sure why it changed or what it changed to, My D600 worked fine with the Video and this KVM setup. So a reboot is required to fix. If i resume and have this PC selected on the KVM some time the resolustion has change to some lower setting. Not sure why it changed.

I just got the new D620 and have not really used out side the docking station yet. Next week i am on the road and i will see if i have the problems you guys are haveing with standby when using the PC stand alone.

I'm having this exact same problem with my D620. I would be using the laptop and the screen would just go blank i could still hear the music in the backbround and everything but the screen would display nothing. I used to restart the pc and just wait for that but now i just close the lid and open it back up again, it works. It's really annoying though because my laptop is brand new it should not have these issues. Another big issue I'm having is when re-docking the laptop I have to re-arrange the icons to their original position because for some reason it doesn't keep the original settings. Somethimes the screen is cut off from the left side and i cannot access the start menu and there is a black blank space on the right side. After doing a little research it seems to me like it's a video driver issue but i do not know how to resolve it. Any help would be appreciated. I know this post is like 4 years old but who knows maybe 4 years from now another tech noob like myself will come accross a video driver issue with a Dell laptop and they might stumble upon this post. Any help would be appreciated admins or users please help. THANK YOU!!!
