I'd go with one of the Seagate hybrids (SSHDs).

You can't get a 2T drive in notebook size, so that's out. All of those drives will work fine; when it comes to notebook drives, there are only three manufacturers - WD (which owns Hitachi Global), Seagate (which owns Samsung) and Toshiba.

Hi as2013
I would like to inform you that the maximum amount of hard drive this system support is up to 640GB, you can click on the link mentioned below to view the various types of hard drive with price which are available on the Dell website.

Hope that helps you.

Does this mean that i need not to worry about Dell Inspiron Compatibility with HDD's ( except 2.5 Inch Size ) ?
What if I order any of the above Listed Hard Disk & it didn't work well with my Laptop ?
Thanks for suggestions.

Any standard 2.5" SATA notebook drive that's 9.5 mm or thinner will work just fine.

The 640GB thing MAY be a BIOS limitation, though... much like how the old 9000-series Inspirons, right up to the last IDE notebooks Dell made, were limited to 137GB, and the workaround for fitting 250GB aftermarket drives was to partition them as two 125GB's.
The fix is to partition the drive before you install it, set it up as basically two 500GB sections with the first one having your OS and being set up as "bootable". Any number of free partition utilities can do that for you, but you'll need a USB drive enclosure and another machine to work on the drive.

There is no 640G limit. That's probably the largest drive Dell ever shipped with the unit, but a 1T drive will work just fine.
