DELL Vostro 3500 media buttons not working / keyboard problems

Hello everybody!
I have a problem with my Vostro 3500, listed below in hierarchy of importance:

1. Media buttons are not working - Laptop have fresh install of Win7 32bit from oryginal DVD (taken from box), all drivers also taken from  DVD included to laptop.
The entire panel is not illuminated, looking like dead. I tried install Dell Quickset but most versions can not be installed, one it can, is not for V3500.
Could you give me link or send mi correct version Dell Quickset for my laptop?
Or may be a problem with the something else?

2. Next thing is related (IMHO) to point 1 of this post. Problem is with backlight of icons HDD / WiFi / BT / NumLoc / CapsLoc / ScrollLoc placed on the left to media buttons. With these LED's work properly NumLoc and Wifi. Caps and rest not working/ not reacting.

3. NumLoc after pressing indicating LED but nothing to more. Keys with numeric symbols (like Fn blue sign) not working.  After pressing Fn key + number is still same situation, numbers not working.

I found the cause!

I removed the cover and found that the conductive strips of the media keys were slided out form connector.

Sorry for the problem and my English :) Thank you for your response.

Regards,
Wojtek

Hi aipw,

I will suggest you to check the device manager for any missing drivers. The steps are:

  • Press ‘Windows’ key + R on ‘Desktop’ screen
  • Type ‘devmgmt.msc’ in run box and press ‘Enter’

Check the device manager for any exclamation marks or devices listed under other devices.

Also, update the Dell OSD utility from the link http://dell.to/1eILwuL.

Keep me posted with the results. I will be glad to assist you further.
