Hi SRIDARR,

Since you have mentioned that you have uninstalled and re-installed the webcam driver and webcam software, still the webcam is giving error that some other application is using it. This is because application like yahoo messenger, Skype, live messenger and facial recognition also uses the webcam. So please check whether these applications are using the webcam. In case you’re not using the facial recognition please uninstall it, suppose you’re using the facial recognition software please open the application and check if there is any update available? In case update is available please update the software, if there is no update available please uninstall and re-install the facial recognition software. Please use the link below to install the facial recognition.

Before you uninstalling the facial recognition software please use the above link, register and check if there is facial recognition software available.

SRIDARR,

Did you recently install/reinstall the operating system? If yes, did you install the drivers in the correct order? How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order

Try reading...

Troubleshooting the Dell Webcam and Dell Webcam Central Software

You can try this file, also known as Dell Webcam Central.

Create a new unrestricted user account and try the webcam. Did the webcam work?

If yes, log out and log back in to your account and try the webcam. Did the webcam work?

If no, then the webcam became detached from the motherboard, usually near the webcam

If your computer is under warranty, contact Dell Tech Support

SRIDARR,

Go to Drivers & Downloads enter your service tag number, select your operating system. Under Input, you'll find the Quanta drivers for your webcam.

Some video software has the ability to check which camera it's attached to as well. That might be worth a look.

I ask because FastAccess (the face recognition software) contains a "virtual camera" called "faCap" that is specifically intended to allow for other video programs to obtain video even when FastAccess is running in a mode that uses the camera full time. If you have FastAccess installed and running in a mode which uses the camera after login, you might need to go into your video app and switch it to use "faCap" instead. Most video apps will automatically attach to the first available camera, but some aren't as good as others.
