The article that you suggested I read seemed to be about troubleshooting McAffe antivirus which I uninstalled already. I'm not sure if that needs to come back on the computer for this to work.

Everything after this is going to be from the ipconfig/all

A.Iverson,

Then try this tweak...

Start, control panel, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your ehternet adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.

Restart your computer.

I'm afraid there is no 'network' section under my device manager.

The option isn't under Network adapters or any of the other subsections

First I'd like to thank you for taking all this time to help me. Now on to the next set of problems.

All of the adapters are wireless. I'm not sure if this is the cause of the problems or not. Any suggestions on if I should uncheck the box that allows the computer to be turned off by any of these?

A.Iverson,

I stand corrected, it's network adapters. In this screenshot, the Broadcom NetLink Gigabit Ethernet is the wired adapter.

A.Iverson,

The Realtek should be your ehternet adapter.
