Delete Dell Data Safe
I don't need this option and would like to delete the files from my hard drive. Can I safely uninstall: Dell Datasafe Local Backup and Dell Datasafe Online, i.e. all the programs in the Dell Datasafe program folder, without affecting any other software?
Thanks!

You should not uninstall this recovery program. You don't have to use it but it is necessary for system recovery. You make a recovery disk with Local Backup. It is important to do that so you can recover from a system crash or damaged system files. Dell is not sending Windows disks with new computers so make the disk.
After you get a new computer, don't delete or change for the first month or so until you learn what everything does. Read this ARTICLE. about making the recovery disk.

Too late, Mary. Since receiving my laptop I have: Uninstalled MS Office Trial Version and installed Open Office and Outlook 2007, uninstalled McAfee Security Center and installed AVGFree 9.0 and uninstalled MS Works. I therefore doubt that Local Backup restoration dvd's will restore my laptop to the condition in which it left the factory. Correct?

To create your Recovery Discs, you will need one or more blank DVDs and your computer must have a DVD burner installed.
1 Click
then click
All Programs, click
Dell DataSafe Local Backup 2.0 and click
Dell DataSafe Local Backup 2.0.
2 Click ? Create your Recovery Discs.
My Dell Inspiron 1525 has Dell DataSafe folder BUT I don't have the local backup 2.0. How do I get this SW downloaded so that I can create these recovery CDs??? Thanks for any help.

Travis, I have Dell DataSafe Local Backup. I do not have Dell DataSafe Local Backup 2.0. Did I not get the latest version with my April 17, 2010 laptop?
