Dell 1390 Wireless - WPA2 Option Missing
*** Moderators: I am re-posting this in the Network/Wireless forum. Please remove from this forum. ***
I do not have the WPA2 option in my Dell Wireless utility. I have read the other threads and tried the suggested steps, but nothing has worked.
When I try to re-install the MS WPA2 update, it says the version I have is later and aborts the installation.
For what it's worth, Windows Zero Config (WZC) works with WPA2, but I do not like using it. As it's name implies, I have ZERO control over connecting to preferred networks (Microsoft's infinite wisdom), and it takes forever to connect. I think the connection time is due to proximity...I'm usually only 6 feet away from the router. Oddly, WZC connects faster when I'm farther from the router.
Steps taken:
- Latest Dell Driver installed (Broadcom 4.170.25.12 dated 9/20/07)
- Installed XP SP2 WPA2 Update (KB893357)
- Installed latest driver for my router
Hardware:
- Inspiron E1505
- 1390 Wireless card
- D-Link DI-624 with firmware rev 2.76 (the latest)
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
Ken
