Dell 3350 16 GB RAM Support

I've purchased 2x8gb TEAM TED38G1333C9-SBK memory banks and managed to install them but my notebook failed to boot (4 BIOS beeps). After some research I found that this model supports max 8 GB (2x4) unless Sandy Bridge i5 cpu should work fine with 16. After second try the system have been running successfully for one day with 16 GB but then failed to boot again (after hibernation). Has anyone upgraded his dell 3350 to 16 gb (I found few success stories on internet)? Is DELL planning to make BIOS update to fix this issue? Any useful information will be appreciated.

Hi,

This computer model has been tested with maximum 8 GB memory. I have forwarded the information provided by you with the screenshot to the team concerned.

Meanwhile, I have mentioned the link for the manual to check the maximum memory supported by this computer model http://dell.to/Ro5tM1

To check the maximum memory supported click View(Owner's Manual) > Specification.

Thanks & Regards

I also own a vostro 3550 and in my manual it's written a maximum memory of 8gb... Is that different with yours and is it possible to install 16gb of RAM on a vostro 3550?

I found my own answer, it does support 16GB or RAM, well at least for the i7 which is the one I got. I found the answer here: http://processors.findthebest.com/l/101/Intel-i7-2620M.

Hi Kenshi1988,

Vostro 3350 has 2 Memory slots. Each slot supports a max of 4GB. So, in total the system supports a max of 8GB RAM. I have checked the second link you have posted, it is only specific to the CPU. It however doesn't apply to your machine.

Do you have any other queries?

Thanks and Regards,

Rishi

I've got Vostro 3350 with latest A10 BIOS and 16Gb (2x8GB) from A-Data:

Type DDR3
Size 8192 MBytes
Manufacturer A-Data Technology
Max Bandwidth PC3-10700 (667 MHz)

It works flawlessly since 2012 in Linux, Windows 7, 8 ,8.1 and recently with Windows 10.

Memory test applications e.g.: Windows Memory Diagnostic and memtest86+ tests are passing OK.

Forgot to add: I'm running on Intel Core i7-2640M as you need CPU which supports 16Gb.
