Computer does not turn on

  1. Disconnect your AC adapter
  2. Remove the battery
  3. Push the power "On" button for at least 20 seconds.
  4. With the AC adapter unplugged from the wall, short out the two power terminals to remove any static buildup.

Now put the battery back in, attach AC power adapter and restart the notebook.

The above may fix your issue.

Are there any beeps when the computer starts to turn on?

Hi Dennyblue,

Please follow the below mentioned steps:

  • Connect the AC adapter to a known good power outlet. Check Power LED indicator on AC Adapter (without plugging into the Notebook).
  • If LED on the AC adapter is not lit (when unplugged from notebook), reseat brick and cable. Still if the LED is not lit, try using an alternate good known AC Adapter as the current one has gone faulty.
  • If LED on the AC Adapter goes off only after connecting to notebook, then it is possible that the Motherboard or DC-In port has gone faulty and hardware replacement may be required.

Hi Dennyblue,

It appears to be an issue with the motherboard of the system and hardware replacement may be required.

Thanks Bay Wolf and Saharsh for the help, I thought it could be the motherboard but hoped it  would be something simple.

Thanks,
