Dell Diagnostics and McAfee SafeBoot Encryption
Does anyone know if the Dell Diagnostics Hard Drive Test under f12 will work when McAfee SafeBoot encryption is installed. I have a laptop that was acting a little funny and I ran the Dell diagnostics which reported a problem with the hard drive Error Code: 0142 . Msg: Error Code 2000-0142. I was thinking that the self test may have failed due to SafeBoot and was not really a problem with the drive???

Yes, the Dell diagnostics work fine with McAfee SafeBoot. And yes, your problem is hardware in origin - not software. The hard drive is failing.
If the drive isn't backed up, you can try a forced decryption with a Wintech boot CD (see your SafeBoot administrator for that).
