Dell Insperon 15 3531 wont turn on

Ok, so i have had the laptop for close to three years now, and it has never given any problems until now. I know about the static electricity and have done all of that fun stuff, but it still won't turn on. This happened when I shut the computer down. It has happened twice during a restart, but after the restart it randomly turned on about an hour later. The charger is fine, and the adapter has a green light. The light in the front of the computer lights up when I plug it in. Thanks in advance.

Does the computer sometimes power on ? Never power up at all ? Do you hear a series of beeps ?

Hi LINUS_FABIAN,

Do you mean the system does not power on at all or does it not power on only sometimes? 

If the system does not have any power, then -

  • confirm if the power led on the system comes on at least for a second when you press the power button.
  • confirm if the light on the power adapter goes off / starts flickering when connected to the system.
  • remove the memory modules on the system and check if the system gets any power - download the service manual - http://dell.to/22ouHBJ

If there are no signs of any power or no beeps heard at all, then I would suspect the motherboard might have failed and needs to be replaced.
