Dell Inspiron 15 3552 - missing drivers
Two weeks ago I bought a Dell Inspiron 3552 (Service Tag<ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>) with Ubuntu 14.04 SP1. It was a gift for my mother. She was not comfortable with using Ubuntu so I installed Windows 7 Professional (x64). The problems started immediately. Network controllers drivers were missing, universal serial bus (usb) controller were missing. I tried to install all drivers recommended by Dell Product Support but they there not right for me. For example: wireless card is DW 1801 Card 802.11gbn + BT 4.0, yet the Dell Support suggests drivers for 1707 which fails to install. I found the drivers for 1801 and was able to install them, but so far these things are not working on the laptop:
Universal serial bus (usb) controller
Webcam
I suspect it is because I am still missing some drivers, probably motherboard or chipset. Could you provide me the links to them?

Hello,
Here is a link to the driver download page for the Inspiron 3552. it defaulted to Windows 7 64-bit for me but make sure it does the same for you. Here is a link to the Intel Chipset Driver that goes with the Inspiron 3552 and Windows. I think that is the driver most likely causing the problems you're seeing.
Here is a link showing which drivers to install and in which order. Check that article out and see if it helps. Not sure why the support pages / utilities are suggesting the wrong drivers but you may want to simply install them manually, in the order that article recommends.
For the Dell Webcam Central software, because it's licensed you actually have to log into your Dell.com account to access / download it. Here is a support article on the Dell Webcam Central software application that explains the entire process.
Let me know if this helps.

Hello, Todd,
Thanks for the replay, but the first link you provided I had already tried without much of success. I was able to install only these drivers:
The second link (Chipset drivers) were installed successfully, but no changes. The above mentioned drivers were installed in correct order. I am still stuck with my problems.
I may try to re-install Windows 7 or even go with Windows 8, but it will be only in another month.
Thanks for trying

Hi,
Are you getting any sort of error message when trying to install those updates or are they seemingly installing but Device Manager still shows issues with the drivers?
Since you've put Windows 7 on that system have you considered seeing if you can upgrade it to Windows 10? Since the Inspiron 3552 is a newer system, and we have Windows 10 drivers for it, that may work better for your mother than Windows 8, unless she has experience with Win8. Win10 is, user interface wise, closer to Windows 7.
Just a thought.

Hello, Todd,
I am getting an error message during installation process and the setup stops, reporting failure to install. Will try to write down the precise message.
I will also consider installing Windows 10.
Will update on how things went in a week.

Hello, Todd,
I did a clean installation of Windows 8.1. Wireless card is working, USB ports are working, Webcam is working, Sound card is working. Issues I am still facing (from device manager console):
All the suggested drivers from official Dell page were installed in the correct order. Dell Update Application also reports that all drivers are up to date. Yet I got a feeling that some drivers are missing. Can you help me?

Hi,
I have bought also a Dell Inspiron 3552 with Ubuntu, service tag: 5H59N52.
I tried also to install Windows 7 or Windows 10, but I'm getting the message:
“A required CD\DVD drive device driver is missing”
The storage driver it is not included in operating system kit, so I need the correct driver to add, so I can start the installation.
Can you, please, provide the link for the right driver to be added with USB stick at this installation step, as the hard disk drive is not detected?
Thank you.

Hi,
If I remember correctly, this message was displayed during Windows setup. And as you said - you need the correct driver. I did not find the correct driver as a separe file, but I was lucky enough to find a Windows iso image with all the latest updates (up to the March 2016) included. It solved this problem for me.
