It may be depending on what you now have, but the boost you'll get won't be significant - you're still going to be limited to CPUs that are now quickly approaching a decade old (they were current about nine years ago) -- and any boost you'll see would be extremely moderate (and debatable as to whether it's worth the trouble do even do the work, assuming you can get a CPU for free or under $10).

AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-58 1.90 GHz is what I currently have.

Currently the computer is fast, but I figured that any performance upgrades would help.

I honestly think it may be a little faster running Windows 10 than it was running Vista.

The TL-60 will also work, but only nets you 100 MHz more.

There are a few other CPUs in that series (TL-62/4/6/8) which should also work, but draw a few watts more power so they'll run a bit hotter and reduce the battery runtime a bit as well.

Thanks. Will look for one of those.

Battery life is a non-issue as 90% of the time it stays plugged in

Here's a comparison between the TL-58 and TL-68

EDIT:

I found a TL-68 on Amazon for $751.67  Either the price is wrong, the CPU is that rare or the seller is deceitful.

If it is going to cost that much I can buy a brand new laptop for less or most likely stick with what I have since  it does what I need quite well.

Could also find a defunct laptop with that particular CPU and hope t is good.
