Dell Inspiron 1525 Heating Problem
I have a Dell Inspiron 1525. It is a bit older then a year. When I try to burn a CD or DVD my computer over heats and just turns off. This already happened to me like 7 times. I would really appreciate your respose operating system in windows VISTA SP1 THANKS

The cpu cooler/fan assembly is probably clogged with dirt or hair. You could try using a can of spray air, and spray it into the vents and around the fan.
The best solution for a clogged cpu fan is to take it apart and clean it. Most laptops would require a lot of disassembly to do this, but it is very easy to do on the 1525.
Just a few screws on the bottom of the laptop. The same cover you would remove to install more ram or a wifi card, is all you need to remove to get to the cpu cooler.
You can download the service manual here...
Good luck

This has nothing to do with heat sink/clog hair etc
Dell are aware of this problem on a small number of 1525.
mine's been in for repair and sent back but it still over heats. My old 1525 is going to be crushed because they consider it so dangerous.
I was so worried to leave mine on in case it burst in flames mine did not auto shut down and just got hotter around the left hand side plamrest and mouse pad area
Dell Tech support were brillant in arranging a replacement laptop

Hello
I think we can fix this issue right away. All you need to do here is 3 steps.
1. Go to support website and download the latest version of Bios and Flash it.(support.dell.com )
2. check the name of the optical drive and check is there a firmware patch avaliable in the support website.( am sure it is avaliable)
3. You can also check the air vents is there anything which is blocking the air flow.I hope you are using Roxio for burning if not try using roxio to burn
Looking forward to hear a positive reply from you.
In case if you are finding difficult to find the correct firmware of your system please let me know the system service tag.
