Dell Inspiron 15R 5520 touchpad not working correctly!

I have had this laptop for only a week and am having problems with the touchpad.

Firstly the scrolling on the touchpad stopped working. I tried to fix it to no avail. The driver for the touchpad on dell website failed to download.

Now for some reason the left and right mouth buttons on the touchpads have stopped working too. The only way to click is by tapping on the touchpad itself.

How can I fix these problems?

Hi random mal,

Please run the custom test on touchpad (32 bit diagnostics). Use the link below to run the PSA hardware diagnostics.

Thanks for the help. I tried the diagnostics and passed all tests. Also updated driver and restarted computer yet it still does not work. I've checked again inertial scrolling is checked.

Any other suggestions?

Hi Random Mal, like you I have had trouble with my Dell's touchpad, I honestly tried all the troubleshooting and even contacted dell support but they cant help because all they can provide is what they have in their resource.

But just this morning I got it working. haha, and its a simple trick. just go to the device manager and look for the unknown drivers if you have a couple just try the first one, then right click on the unknown driver, select properties, go to the details tab and on the property sections select Hardware IDs, and it will show you a list of some sort of alpha numeric character, then copy the one with the long wordings in it. then paste in in google like "ACPI\VEN_INTL&DEV_9C60&REV_0004 driver download" then google will help you find the driver suitable for your hardware.

And it got mine working. :)
