Dell Inspiron 15R (5537) Memory fail whats maximum upgrade?

Help, Had a 6GB Inspiron 15R the 4 GB card just failed. Want to go to the max. But find some sites say 8 GB is the max and others say 16GB.

All set to buy 2 8GB boards but would hate to drop that coin only to find it wont work.

This should not be this hard.

Max RAM is 16 gb. Best results if you get it from someone like Crucial that guarantees it will work.

I've Dell 5537 with 4GB (pre-installed) and I want to add an 8GB module to make it 12GB. The problem is everyone said it'll blow one of the RAM as it has compatibility issues.

My specs are:

Intel Core i5 4th Gen: 4200U

RAM: 4GB DDR3

with AMD Dedicated 8670M
