Dell Inspiron 1750 Laptop Power Problems.

OK guys, I have a Dell Inspiron 1750 Laptop that's having power issues.

My Charger is good, tested with a volt meter (19.46V) but when I plug it into the laptop it wont power on.
I can get the laptop to power on if I charge the battery in another dell laptop so I know the laptop works fine.
I bought and replaced a new DC jack board thinking that was the problem but after installation it still gives me the same issue.

What else could be causing no power?
I tested the New DC charger Board while plugged into the charger and got a reading of 18.69V could this be the problem?

Hi poyeasfy,

Leave the laptop on charging at least for an hour.

I would like you to try the below mentioned steps before coming to conclusion:

  1. Connect the AC adapter to a known good power outlet. Check Power LED indicator on AC Adaptor (without plugging into the Notebook).
  2. If LED on the AC adapter is not lit (when unplugged from notebook), reseat brick and cable. Still if the LED on the AC-Adapter is off, Replace AC Adapter & Power Cord only, else follow next step.
  3. If LED on the AC Adapter goes off only after connecting to notebook, Replace parts as mentioned below
  4. Try to power on the laptop only with the AC Adapter connected to it and check if it is turning on.
  5. If the problem still persists, the following parts need to replaced parts as mentioned below:
    1. Motherboard.
    2. DC-In port.

Please check and reply.

As stated in my post my charger is fine.

I'e tried to turn on the laptop by means of just the charger no battery installed.

I've replaced the DC board

What else would cause the laptop to not charge or get power to the motherboard?   Are there micro fuses on the motherboard that may need replaced?

Hi poyeasfy,

This could be a problem with the motherboard of the computer as even after replacing the DC-In Port the problem persists. Replacing the motherboard of the computer will fix the problem.

In case the system has active warranty, please private message the system service tag, contact number and registered owner’s name.

Awaiting your response!

I realize a new motherboard will solve the issue but I'd like to repair the board I have.

Can you provide me with a circuit board diagram, specifically on showing the path of the charging circuits?

Hi poyeasfy,

We only replace the motherboard for these issues. We do not repair or recommend repairing the motherboard.

As the system is out of warranty I suggest you to contact Dell out of warranty, contact # 800-288-4410.

Or you can purchase it at a nearby local electronics store at a cost effective price. If there is a possibility try swapping the motherboard at a local tech store and check the functionality of the computer before you purchase it.
