Thanks. I don't have the laptop in front of me, and I have to send these instructions to my 89 year-old dad. So if they just hit F8 at the start of the boot up, a menu will appear from which they can select "Repair" and then "Recover" and then the system will automatically repair/reinstall Windows 7?
After you press the F8 key, you will see Repair your computer option. Then click System Restore, and it will restore your computer to an earlier time. Or you can choose Dell Factory Image Restore to restore it to factory settings.
Reinstall the system could make your computer like-new. If your dad got an USB drive, make it as bootable device with create bootable disc function, and download Windows 7 iso file into the USB drive. If you got one, then maybe you can do the preparation. Plug in the USB drive, press Del key to enter BIOS to change the USB drive as the boot device. Then boot the computer and follow the wizard to reinstall the system.

With older systems having 7, press F8 before Windows loads, then choose Repair and then Recover.
