Dell Latitude D800 Battery Notifications

One of our users has a Latitude D800, and his backup battery does not display a warning before it dies and just shuts down the system. My laptop gives me a notification of how much time I have left on the battery before having to convert back to using the power supply. How do i turn these notifications on, or better, how can I have the laptop switch back to the main battery after the backup battery has been emptied?

sedei,

Thank you for using Dell's Community Forum.

Try this: >start>control panel>power options>advanced tab>put a checkmark in the box referring to the power icon.

I have the same exact issue and the proposed solution does not address it.

If there is only the main battery in the machine then when that battery is nearing depletion the appropriate alarms show up and things work as expected.

However if both the main battery and the secondary battery are in the machine then when the secondary battery is depleted the system just shuts down (or at least goes into standby). There is no alarm/no warning of any kind.

Instead of shutdown/standby it should make a graceful transition to the main battery and continue working as though nothing had happened. (i.e w/o the shutdown/standby).

I have the same problem. When using my secondary battery, as soon as it is depleted it will go into hibernation. This is a very annoying problem as it stalls all work i am currently doing.. and this happenes EVERY TIME. Is there a fix for this problem, the above mentioned fix does not solve this issue.

again full main batter + low secondary battery = hibernation

when really it should be

full main battery + low secondary battery = transition to main battery with no stalling of system

thank you
