Dell Latitude D820 Processor Upgrade...

I have a Dell Latitude D820 and would like to upgrade my current T2600 (2.17 GHz) processor to the Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 2.5 GHz processor.  What I am having trouble finding out is if this new CPU will fit and work in my current laptop.

Where can I find a guide to compatible CPU's for my Dell D820?

Thanks for any help!  :emotion-21:

This is what I've been able to dig up on the D820's. Any Core 2 Duo whose model number has an even number after the 7 will work with a D820. If the 2nd digit is odd it's Santa Rosa and WILL NOT WORK. The max I've seen anyone upgrade to is a T7600 so far.

Almost - the T7200, T7400 and T7600 will work.  Any of the Core 2 T7x00 with x = odd or above 6 (such as the T7100, T7800, etc.) will not.

None of the T8x00, Pxxxx, or Xxxx will work.

So a T7600 will work?  Since this is a 64 bit processor will it support a 64bit OS even in the 820?

Yes, the T7600 will work - and yes, the Core 2 Duos support EM64T so 64-bit will work (though the low RAM ceiling in the system makes the 64- vs. 32-bit version pretty much a moot point).

Do you know what sSpec version of the T7600 Dell used?

Thanks
