Dell Latitute E6230 Battery Issue
I just picked this up used and it was operating on battery just fine. Since I was unsure of the age of the battery, I powered down the system and pulled the battery out. When I replaced the battery the system would no longer start if AC was not present.
I have reseated the battery several times. Windows 10 is telling me that Battery 1 is not present and Battery 2 is 100% and fully charged. I do not have a second battery installed, just the single one.
The ePSA diagnostics do not show any issues with the battery.
Thanks,
John

Thank you for the quick reply.
BIOS setup shows the AC adapter as 130W. Battery Health is shown as Normal.
I have a new battery arriving tomorrow.

I followed a suggestion found on another site to open device manager, expand batteries, remove battery entries and then refresh. The batteries are reinstalled as expected and now I get Battery 1 is 100% and fully charged and Battery 2 is not present, but my laptop will still not run on battery power. if I power down, remove AC and press the power button, nothing happens. If I replace the AC plug, then the battery charge light illuminates for a moment and then goes dark.

Does the system recognize the AC adapter or does it show "unknown"? F2 at powerup to check.
If unknown, the battery won't charge - next step: replace with a new OEM Dell AC adapter. If that doesn't solve the issue, next replace the DC jack -- and if that doesn't fix it, the mainboard.
If the AC adapter IS recognized, but the battery won't charge or power the system, next step: replace with a new OEM Dell battery.
If that doesn't solve the issue, it's a mainboard problem.

New battery arrived. When I attached it and then applied power, it immediately started charging. After a full charge was achieved, I disconnected the AC and the laptop booted just fine from the battery. So, it turns out my battery had just failed.
