Welcome to the Community. Dell MediaDirect is a pre-boot interface that provides access to video, music, photos, and certain Microsoft Office features without you needing to load Windows. You will need to format your existing hard drive, and you will need to reinstall Media Direct 3.5 before you reinstall Windows. This can be accomplished using the Dell MediaDirect 3.5 Installation CD. Below are the steps
Turn on the computer and press "F12" repeatedly until the message "Preparing one-time boot menu..." appears.
Insert your Dell MedaDirect reinstallation CD. Use the up or down arrows on the keyboard to select the "CD/DVD/CD-RW" option and press "Enter." Select "Partition the hard drive" from the list of options on the Media Direct installation menu. Select "Option 1" to use the entire hard drive. If you want to designate only a portion of your hard drive for installation, select "Option 2." Remove the installation CD when the installer returns to the main menu. Restart the computer. After you restart, put in the Windows Disc, boot from the CD and install windows.
