Hi NeeravKumar,

I would suggest you to update the BIOS on the computer and check if it fixes the overheating issue.

Please enter your service tag # on the link below, then download the BIOS required onto the system and install it.

Please let me know if this helps.

I have a Dell Studio 1558 also and despite long ago updating to the very latest BIOS and attempting every other suggested fix still have recurrent and frequent random shutdown issues.  I've  given up at this point .

As Dell seems to have washed their hands of this obvious issue affecting the thousands of us who purchased this lemon,  I've decided to never buy another Dell computer and to share my negative experience with everyone I possibly can.  I urge all of you reading this who are in a similar situation to do the same.  (Up until buying the Dell Studio 1558 I was a Dell loyalist, purchasing half a dozen Dell systems over the past fifteen years.)

I hope that someone brings a class action suit regarding the 1558 - and in that case I will happily join in.

Hi Ravi

Even my dell studio 1558 shuts off suddenly. Talking about updating BIOS i dont think i could do that since laptop suddenly crashes within few seconds or sometime in couple of minutes. Do you think it is related to battery or motherboard?

Thanks

I recently replaced the motherboard - at my own expense - and for now at least the problems seem to have resolved so my guess would be the latter (although I would try the far less expensive changing of the battery first...)
