Dell XPS 12 9Q33 Several Issues
I have owned this laptop for almost 10 months now, and at first, I loved everything about it. However, as time has passed, many small issues have come up, which by themselves wouldn't be a problem, but altogether, make this computer a real pain to use. Windows 8.1 Professional is installed, as well as Ubuntu Linux. The SSD has also been upgraded from the stock 128GB drive to a Crucial M500 240GB mSATA Model#CT240M500SSD3.
1. When flipping the screen back into place from tablet mode, the keyboard or touchpad or both will sometimes cease to function until a restart is performed. This is the most recent issue I've had, and was the one that caused me to finally give in to all the problems I've had.
2. Audio jack hissing/static/white noise. I've seen a fix on the forums for this, which involved installing generic drivers from Realtek, which I tried to no avail. Most of the time, I don't need the audio jack, but the few times I've tried to use it, it is absolutely unacceptable.
3. Touchpad and keyboard rarely will not function at all after starting the system up from a cold state (as in, powered off). A restart usually fixes this, but sometimes requires up to 3 restarts. If the laptop is started up in this manner in tablet mode, neither will work until the computer is restarted in laptop mode.
4. Screen ghosting issue. This had been posted many times on the forums, and yet no one seems to have an answer. This issue is not with Windows 8.1, as it also happens in Ubuntu. When a portion of the screen goes from bright to dark, the image that was being displayed brightly remains visible partially. This is most noticeable when web browsing with a white background and switching to the dark Metro UI Start menu.
5. Battery charging/discharging creates occasional high pitched squeals. I'm assuming this has something to do with the laptop's solid state internal power regulation, because voltage makes noise sometimes. This one isn't such a big deal, but is still present, and can be quite annoying in a quiet area.
6. WIFI just generally seems... shoddy. Wireless N shouldn't only get ~10Mbps when connecting to a Cisco 802.11n WAP, configured properly to achieve ~300Mbps. Also, the wireless card sometimes just... stops. I lose all network connectivity until the next restart, sometimes a few restarts.
I have searched extensively through these forums attempting every suggested fix, and currently have the most up to date drivers installed as of 5/29/2014. BIOS is A06.
These issues have come down to forcing me to use this computer not as a convertible ultrabook, but a decent standard laptop. I'm coming here first in an attempt to resolve anything one last time before I contact warranty support.
Thank you for any responses.

I have the same laptop (9Q33). I have noticed almost exactly the same issues, although not the charging noises. I also have updated all of my drivers. If I had to guess, the touchpad issue is related to the driver, as that driver was absolutely terrible at initial release (the driver had a memory leak). Let me know how/if at all these issues were resolved.
