Still no answer. Are the viewing angles really this bad? This and an issue with the WiFi not working properly seem to be common issues.

SteveyChu,

I don't see any problem with the viewing angles.

There is a small issue with the wireless adapter on some models and Dell is working on a solution.

Thanks for the reply.

Just looking at it compared to other laptops such as the

Dell XPS 13

It just seems slightly inferior, either in terms of overall brightness or the viewing angles to a lot of other laptops or similar performance or price. I do admit, I'm probably overanalysing and these test images are supposed to test things beyond what most normal people would care about. If that test image for the XPS 14 was roughly on par with the XPS13 or 15, I wouldn't even question it. But it seems to drop contrast and clarity almost immediately compared to other laptops.

Looking at forums like notebook review, it seems the quality of the screen is the second largest concern, behind the WiFi issue. I know that forums tend to focus on negatives, but the notebookcheck reviews don't really help the case either.

If I knew how it compared with an M1330, I'd probably be a lot more relieved, but I can't seem to find any point of reference between the two.

I noticed those reviews/issues too before I bought mine but it's not bad at all in person!  It's a VERY nice high res screen and gets VERY bright even at just past the half setting mark.  If you want it and like the size, just get it.  When you view it from an angle you can just slightly see a tinge but nothing like those photos on the review site.  I read the exact same review on Notebookcheck but in person it's actually very gorgeous.  Trust me you'll be happy if you otherwise want this laptop.  The keyboard is excellent by the way, very sturdy feel and easy to type fast on.
