Dell XPS M1730 Possible Ram Upgrades?

I have a Dell XPS M1730, And i have 2-2 Gig sticks of DDR2 Ram, and was wondering if i can upgrade? I really need to for gaming because its gotten laggy as

.. :( Please PLEASE help. Dell website said max capacity is 4 Gigs total.. Just wondering if anyone knows any different...

Hi,

Welcome to the Community.

The maximum memory on Dell XPS M1730 8GB.

It has two memory module connectors .so you can have two 4GB memory modules to upgrade to 8GB.

Despite what Dell claim (maximum 4 gb ram) the M1730 will take 8gb of ram and it works fine.

Hi,

Thanks for bringing this to our notice. The service manuals show that the maximum memory supported is 4 GB by XPS M1730.  However the maximum memory supported is 8 GB. The laptop has two memory slots and so two memory modules each of 4 GB can be used to sum up the total memory to 8 GB.
