Dell inspiron: 640M Video Card Problem
Hi,
I have a problem with display.
- The laptop screen seems to scroll horizontally from right to left and I can’t control it (happens suddenly and randomly as the pointer is moved).
- I can see a dot just below the pointer.
I have tried re installing the OS, have formatted the complete HD and again installed the OS.
The moment I install the Video Driver, I get this problem. I am assuming the video card has got some problem.
Can someone provide inputs, if he/she has come across a similar problem.

Run the Dell diagnostics (F12 at powerup) to confirm the video chip problem. If the video chip has failed, then you must replace the system board.

Do i need to change the Mother board or just the video card?

On this model, yes, the mainboard must be replaced, as there is no separate video card.
