While you can do this with the power management, it's not a good idea. The system is not designed to run at full speed all the time - it will increase heat significantly and significantly shorten the life of the system (and in particular, the hard drive).
what is the best power scheme to use? I have it on portable/laptop right now. I am encoding a video and it still stays at 800MHz. Speedstep is enabled in the bios, and it is not on max battery. Ok I am running prime, and it is still at 800MHz. Something is wrong.
edit: Ok it seems when I am running on ac power it does'nt go above 800MHz. But when I run on battery it jumps up to max speed. Is there a setting I have where I can get it to run at max speed under load while on ac power?
edit: I just noticed I was given a 65W power supply insted of the recommended 90w. Could this have anything to do with speedstep not working while on ac power?

I am typing this on a 90W D800 and it works fine at full speed.
