Dell studio 1555 red flickering dots.
There seems to be a few problems with my Dell studio 1555 screen
Turning it on today I noticed:
- Red flickering dots on black backgrounds.
- Moving red strips on the taskbar.
- White backgrounds/colours on the screen are now light blue.
I think the laptop might have taken i knock in my bad and caused these problems, however I haven't a clue what has happened

Check the ribbon cable that runs between the mainboard and display - disconnect and reconnect both ends and check for damage. If it's damaged, or if reseating both ends doesn't work, replace it. If that doesn't solve the problem, replace the display panel.

Attached it to my T.V using a HDMI lead, the picture is o.k on the external monitor.

To differentiate a video chip/mainboard problem, attach an external monitor. does it show the same fault, or is the image OK?

Will that involve taking apart the whole laptop, I've done it previously and it's a right bloody hassle. If it's near the top when taking it apart I would be alright otherwise I'll have to send it away.
