Disabling New Hardware Found Wizard (How do i...?)

I have attempted to set up/install an HP Deskjet 5550 to my Dell Inspiron 600m (which, by the way, when I enter the key tag code on the dell website [which i've done multiple times], it comes up as a Dell Latitude...).  I have installed the HP software via HP's website and from an HP disk that came with the printer.  Every time, it seems to install fine, it prints the "test page", etc.  At the very end, I get a screen pop that says "found new hardware" and that it was not able to install the software.  HP told me that it must have installed fine as the test page printed fine.  They tried to direct me how to disable the "found new hardware wizard, but it didn't help."  Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks.

Try uninstalling the printer.  Then, without plugging the USB cable, reinstall the printer driver, then plug the USB cable in.

Ok, I tried that suggestion, but it didn't work.  I'd really like to disable the "Found New Hardware" wizard if this is possible.  Like I said, during the installation process, it prints out the test page fine, so the connection must be ok and, as HP stated, the software must have installed properly.
