Display Problem: Persistant Yellow Line One Pixel Wide.

This is more irritating than downright harmful. There is a yellow line, that whenever I turn the computer on, even on the booting screen, that displays constantly. I updated Nvidia's bios and the drivers for the video card. Oddly, my laptop has multiple monitors despite me only having one LCD screen.

I have never dropped, hit or abused my poor laptop. There is a flourescent light in the room but it's one of those old 70s lightbulbs. I am running an Inspiron 8600 with an Nvidia Go 5200 video card. Is it my LCD or what? And should I just take the laptop to someone for repair?

Try an external monitor. If the line doesn't appear, the LCD is faulty. Unfortuntely, this is one of the only faults that cannot be repaired - the panel has to be replaced.

If the line does appear, you have a driver, video card or cable issue.
