Display screen black when projector on with Function F8 Key
Just setting up Dell laptop. When turning on projector display with Function and F8 key the laptop display goes black. When I turn off the projector display with Function and F8, the laptop display comes back on but the projector display goes black. How do I keep both the laptop screen display and projector display on at the same time?

I can't remember the order but the Fn+F8 key combination cycles through 3 settings
These are:
1) Laptop display only (i.e. projector o/put black),
2) Projector display only (i.e. laptop display black) and
3) both together.
As I said at the top, these may not be in the correct order, but nevertheless you should have these 3 settings and repeated pressing of the Fn+F8 key combo will cycle through them all: 1-2-3-1-2-3-1 ... etc.
It may be that the projector takes a few seconds to display an image and so you are thinking that it isn't working and pressing Fn+F8 again. Allow a few seconds (say 10) after each press of the Fn+F8 combination and see what happens.
Also, make sure that the projector is actually displaying something (and has a message similar to "PC no input" ) which means it is in a standby mode waiting for a signal from the PC VGA socket.
