Docking Station boot up

When I attempt to boot up my c840 in the docking station i get a white screen and a message that says "The attached docking station is not supported under system please detach system from docking station to avoid damage". Dell recently installed a new hard drive and i tried to flash the bios but all of the downloads on the dell site that i tried its say "this utility is not supported by this system" can anyone help?

Welcome to the Forum,

Often there are common MotherBoards (between Inspiron, Latitude and Precision Portable models) and
they may ship (for example) with an Inspiron BIOS (that does not support Dock) and the fix would
be (should have included a Boot CD or 'Floppy' diskette) to Flash the BIOS to Proper Latitude BIOS.

Use extreme caution on BIOS Flash, a failure (interuption, power or boot etc.) is fatal!!!

Using a Boot to DOS method, you will have to perform a "Forced Flash" to change System BIOS.

Search the BIOS Board, but the DOS Command will be (proper BIOS) with a space and /forceit or
one of several other commands, be sure you know what you are doing!
