Don't disable Intel Virtualization in BIOS if CPU can do it (Vostro 1510)

Hi - I bought a Vostro 1510 and ensured that the CPU had Intel VT virtualization capability. The CPU is the T8300.

I was most unhappy to find that the Dell BIOS disables  this capability - even if the CPU is capable.

Is there a way to enable it? By usung a generic Phoenic BIOS? By disassembling the BIOS and changing the flag?

It seems bordering on a breach of the UK Trade Descriptions Act to disable capability in the BIOS when you have been sold a CPU that is capable of doing this.

If Dell doesn't want to enable Intel-VT where is it enabled in the CPU then I will have to try some of the unofficial methods. This is why I bought this laptop - to do hardware assisted virtualisation.

Anything you do to alter the bios which will more than likely not work would void the warranty and the system would be yours to fix without the aid of Dell.

If you are not happy with the system return it.

Dell is under no obligation to enable all functions of a processor and or a chipset as is anyother OEM manufacture.

I can't return it as I have been using it for 2 weeks. I've thrown away the packaging. And I bought it from a Dell partner not directly from Dell.

Am I wrong?
