Downloading Chipset to my laptop

I have an inspiron 1150 notebook that does not have internet access. I need to download some stuff from the support website to fix a problem with resolution. How do I download it to my PC, then transfer it to my notebook?

Download it and burn it to a CD if you have a CD burner on your PC or use a USB memory key to save the file, then insert the CD ( USB Memory key) in your laptop and double click on the file which u had saved, the wizard will start by itself.

Check in your device manager, does it show any yellow question mark?

Right click MY Computer>>>>Click on Properties>>>>Click on Hardware Tab >>>>>Click on Device Manager.>>>Check for any yellow question marks or excalamation marks.

Dan, I have a yellow ? next to "other devices". When I open it, I have a question mark next to ethernet controller, multimedia audio controller, network controller, pci modem, video controller, and video controller (vga compatible).

johnmr12,

Looks like none of your drivers are installed properly, we need to install these drivers in a particular sequence:

1)  Dell Notebook System Software

2)  Chipset Drivers

3)  Video driver

4)  Audio driver

5)  Input drivers

6) Communication drivers ( Modem)

7) Network Drivers.

You will need to download these correct drivers for your computer and reinstall them in this order, remmember to reboot your computer after u install each driver.

All the Best!

I downloaded all the drivers and installed them in order. I still have the problem. I looked in the device manager and I still have a question mark next to other devices, but I have fewer entries within that folder. Now I have a question mark next to ethernet controller, video controller, and video controller (VGA Compatible). Was I supposed to uninstall or delete anything before installing the drivers? Or, is it possible that I

Sorry, I was saying is it possible that I downloaded the wrong drivers? Within some of the drivers, there is more than one choice for the Inspiron 1150.
