Driver Installation Problems - nVidia GeForce 440 4 Go on Inspiron 8200 running Windows 98 SE

I'm setting up a dual boot (Windows XP Pro and Windows 98SE) on my Inspiron 8200.

When I attempt to install the W98SE video drivers for the GeForce 440 4 Go card (downloaded from nVidia's site, since Dell's site doesn't have them,) I get the following error message:  Setup was unable to locate a detected device's PCI ID in NVAGP.INF.

Does anyone have any ideas on what this means, or how to successfully install the W98SE nVidia drivers for this card?  Thanks.

Hello,

I’m not sure about win98; but with XP, you have to use the have disk method to install the drive from the nVidia site. When the driver install did not finish it created an nvidia folder on you C drive, you need to go to your video driver properties and choose update driver and point it to the inf file in the nvidia folder to install the driver.
