E1705 display dims when unplugged

I noticed that the E1705 display seems to dim automatically when unplugged.  The display is MUCH brighter when I'm connected to AC directly into an outlet.  Is this to conserve power???

Is there a way to brighten the screen when unplugged? or to keep this from happening?

I looked in Control Panel under display and power icon applications but it's not there.

That's the way it works, conserves battery. It's not that much dimmer on mine, but it does the same thing.

You can brighten it by holding down the function key and repeatedly pressing the up arrow. The screen dims as a power saving feature, and will extend the time you can work "unplugged" so you might want to keep it a little dim if you plan to use it this way for long.

It is the default setting. If you want it to use max brightness, use Fn and up/down arrows or permanently change the setting in the BIOS. By default, it is 3. Change it to 6 or 7 or 8 (max). The catch is .. the battery discharge faster.
