E6400 resolution ok on Linux not Windows

I have an E6400 with the higher resolution screen 1440x900 on which I had to replace the hard drive. On loading Win 7 Pro again (I have a Technet subscription) I can't get the monitor resolution higher than 1280x800.

If I swap out the drive for one running Linux Mint 17.1 the screen resolution is correct at 1440x900.

But I can't seem to find a way to increase the resolution to 1440x900 in Windows.

Correct video driver downloaded and installed from Dell support but no option to go higher than 1280x800.

The screen itself is reported as a generic monitor in Device Manager.

Is there a specific driver for this screen that would enable the higher resolution?
