E6410 Dropping network locally only

E6410 Intel 82577 gigabit NIC running win XP.  There are at least 12-20 of them doing the exact same thing.

We run a corporate image XPsp3.. but we have seen the issue on machines using the Dell supplied XPsp3 and the latest drivers from the support site.

Issue:

The Rdbss driver fails to load then the RDR driver,  followed by Workstation Service failure which takes out the computer browser and all dependancies of the service.  This includes all local network shares and LAN printers etc.  The Netlogin service also is included in the list of things that won't work.  Removing client for MS networks and re-adding it will return functionality but on the next re-boot or move from one place to another the problem will nearly always repeat.  It will occasionally work for a day or so, but the more often this mobile device is moved the less likely you will have a local network LAN when you get there.  This is happening on the coporate image loaded machines, and on an XP machine loaded from the Dell disk that shipped with the unit.  The drivers for that unit were provided from the Dell download site.

We have tried every version of the driver released in since the machines got here, including a driver directly from intel instead of the Dell download.  We are running out of options and are starting to disable services etc. 1 at a time to see if it breaks.  We have received a false positive or two on this effort and we are running out of ideas?

Dalden,

Did you ever find a solution to this issue? I'm experiencing the same issues with my E6410's running XP Sp3. Any assistance would be greatly apprecited.

Still not a clue - though they seem to perform better if you turn off the power saving setting.

Some of it may be throttling by the ISP s that pick on IPSEC protocol in an effort to "distribute" bandwidth.  The ISP service desks deny this as a matter of course and we are left with rather unhappy users.
