E6500 on 64-bit OS
The Latitude E6500 Laptop has an Intel 82567M Gigabit Network Adapter in it. I am trying to get Windows Server 2008 64-Bit to recognize the Ethernet adapter without any luck. Everything else with Server 2008 x64 works great, even the wireless adaptor!
The machine and P-n-P recognizes the network adapter, but when I try loading the Vista-64 Bit drivers for the Ethernet card, I still get “hardware not found”.
I’ve trying using the following drivers, one from Dell and one from Intel for the 825x Lan NIC drivers.
· Intel Network Adapter Driver for Server 2008 x64 (PROVISTAX64_v13_1_2.exe)
Has *anyone* got the e6500 to see the network adaptor on a 64-bit OS?
Can I "tweak" the Vista 64-bit drivers to fake it out?
Any guidance/fixes/driver updates to help me would be greatly appreicated.
Thank you,
Randy

To get the hard-wire NIC working under server 2008, you have to download and install the reference driver from Intel instead of the driver from Dell's site.
The link for download is http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=3003&OSFullName=Windows+Server*+2008+Standard+x64&lang=eng&strOSs=172&submit=Go%21
Once you've downloaded and installed that,(yes it will complain that it can't find a compatible network card to install to) you can manually go into device manager where you'll find an as yet unrecognized network adapter.
Right click on that adapter and install a driver manually. Then browse
then let me pick from drivers installed on my computer
of type Network Adapters
scroll down in Manufacturer and select Intel
In network adapter, select the Intel(R) 82567 LM-2 Network Connection
