E6510 mouse pad- touchpad issues
I have a problem that is driving me nuts, and if I cant figure out how to fix it, I will need to go on high blood pressure medicine or quit my job so I dont have to use this laptop.
Here is what is up: The font sizes on webpages, Excell sheets, emails, and everything else I use for work change sizes when I am simply moving the pointer using the touch pad. It does other funky things change the way my file are lsited. I am only touching the pad with one finger, and no other buttons simultaneously. I have turned the tap to click off (quite a while ago) as I cant deal with it either. It has worked fine for several months, then all of the sudden it started the described actions. I figure some where along the line, I have inadvertently touched 2 buttons which has changed the settings, but have dont have a clue where to start looking, or how to change it back. I know the ALT key and CTRL key can make changes when used in conjuntion with other keys, but as I said, I am clueless.
I had to type this message using a microscope the see the letters. curse, curse, swear, curse.... aaaarrrrggggghhhhhh!
I sure hope someone has an answer.

Sounds like you may have your Touchpad driver set to use the right edge to zoom but not realize it. You can disable that in the Touchpad control panel, as well as set it to scroll.

Umm, ok, so where do I find the touchpad settings, they are not in my control panel, at least not that I can find. I think that the fonts sizes change when I am sliding my finger crossways, not up or down on the right side, but I will certainly try your suggestion, assuming I can find where to change it.
Thanks for your input.

I believe you can go into the Mouse control panel, and you should have a tab there. There are controls for the bottom edge and right edge, and zooming is one of the options.
If you don't have a tab for it in the Mouse control panel, I would go download the latest driver. That will make sure you get the control panel to show up. Also, they added a feature a while back called Touch Check that does better palm rejection than what is built into Windows, which should also help avoid stray click annoyance when typing.

I think I got it fixed. I had looked in the control panel several times along with every where else I could think of looking for the touchpad tab.... there isnt one in the control panel. I accidentally found the icon at the bottom right of the screen in what I believe is the "tool tray" while looking for something else. I basically turned off all the extra stuff leaving the touchpad to move the pointer only, so far its all good. I suppose I am technologically behind the times as I like the mouse pad to be just a mouse pad not a scroller, magnifier, water dispenser, food cooker, car starter, and whatever else they think they can stuff in there. Same with a cell phone, I have a cell phone to be a cell phone, not a web browser, for texting, music , and all that stuff. To each his own, I suppose. But I found the touchpad deal to be extremely annoying, certainly not helpful by any means.
Thanks to those of you who helped me out here.
Goodday,
