Entering System Setup (BIOS) on Dell XPS 12 Convertible Ultrabook in Windows 8 Environment

Following the User's Guide of my Dell XPS 12 Convertible Ultrabook in Windows 8 Environment, I tried to enter the System Setup (BIOS) but could no succeed as the F2 prompt does not appear after the Dell Logo, at start up and pressing F2 after the appearance of dell Logo does not open the BIOS.

Could somebody help me entering the System Setup (BIOS) on my Dell XPS 12 Convertible Ultrabook .

Thanks,

Hi waseulhuda,

You will have to press F2 key on the system when the Dell Logo comes up not after the Dell logo. I would suggest you to start tapping F2 key when the system starts up.

Also, I’d suggest that you follow the steps mentioned below and check if you are able to go into the BIOS.

  1. Switch off the computer.
  2. Disconnect the AC adapter from the system.
  3. Press and hold down the power button for 15 seconds.
  4. Then connect back all the peripherals and check if you are able to turn on the system.

Please let me know if this helps.

Thanks, it worked and I was able to enter the System set up (BIOS). If you could help me further; I want to boot from a USB drive and I enabled it in the BIOS set up but in the Boot options with F12 key, USB drive is not listed. Could you let me know how to boot from a USB / CD drive?

Thanks,

You need to make sure you boot in legacy mode - not UEFI mode.
