Question

Is there a way to use an external monitor only and close the lid on an Inspiron 7000? When I use an external monitor the image is also on the LCD. When I close the cover the laptop goes into suspend mode.

sneedle: Try using Fn-F8 to cycle the display to CRT only before closing the LCD lid.

I tried this and all it did was toggle between both monitors and the LCD only.

Mine worked correctly until I bought a new crt. Now I hit the toggle crt/lcd button and the crt goes out for a second and comes back on, but both screens are on and I can not get the crt only?
