I have tried to talk to Dell directly and they said I need to purchase a warranty for my laptop to use this feature and I dont feel i should have to pay for a warranty if imjust going to sell the thing, I.e. why Im factory resetting the thing. the system restore only goes back a few weeks not to the point i need it reset until. How do i go about doing this

Hi snoots91,

If you still have access in your computer please back up all the important data from the computer and try PC restore step which will set the computer to factory settings.

Note: restoring the computer to factory settings will delete all the data from the computer.

Please check the link for performing PC restore: http://dell.to/gB7c4b

Try the above steps in the link and reply for further help.

There is no Dell data safe option. I have tried everything every option and nothing says anything about Dell restore or data safe. It says insert a reset disc created earlier

Hi snoots91,

If the recovery partition is deleted in the computer, PC restore would not work.

As you are not able to do a PC restore, I suggest you need to reinstall the Windows in your computer which will need operating system disk and resource dvd for drivers. Check this link: http://tinyurl.com/3rftre3

Click on the links and follow the onscreen instructions to reinstall operating system.

Note: In the process of reinstalling operating system you will lose all the data in the computer.

After the operating system is installed, the drivers should be installed in correct order. Please use this link which shows the right order: http://tinyurl.com/8xvx6xy

If you have the resource disk, install the drivers in the correct order or use this link to install the drivers for the computer: http://tinyurl.com/cgcakw3

Click the link above, enter the service tag and select the operating system from the dropdown and follow the order in installing the drivers.

Check and reply for further help.
